Special Prayer Request for Missionaries in Haiti
Julie Biller Burnette asks for prayer for her parents, who are in Haiti. They are missionaries, and their clinic is overwhelmed and running out of supplies. Joyce Myers’ Ministries is sending an orthopedic surgeon and x-ray equipment, but as time passes, the Haitians are getting desperate for basic needs.

Haiti Update
Church of the Woods sent several thousand dollars, destined for Haiti, through Missionary Flights International. MFI sent us this report at the end of January.
“Within a few days after the earthquake, assistance began to pour in to MFI. Hendrick Motor Sports, a NASCAR team, loaned us two large aircraft so MFI could provide transportation for medical teams anxious to assist Haiti. Other teams, including Joe Gibbs’s, began to help by sending their aircraft to assist MFI, as well. In the past two weeks, we have moved well over 1,000 people to Haiti to help the survivors.
As many as 100 volunteers a day have joined the MFI staff in our hangar to provide logistics and physical labor to unload the thousands of pounds of supplies. We have delivered over 450,000 pounds of relief supplies to Haiti and there is another 150,000 pounds in our hangar that will be delivered in the next few days. Will the rush ever end? We do not know, but MFI will continue to “Stand in the Gap” as we have done for the past 46 years.
“Your monthly gift to MFI, [This is our support for the Gumple family who pilots the planes.], has really encouraged us. It takes many donations from many friends to cover the cost of this massive airlift to Haiti. You may not be on the ground in Haiti offering assistance to the hurting people, but your donations will be a blessing to those who are there.
Please pray for the Haitian people and all of those who are helping them at this critical time in their history. If you have the capability, please go online and view the MFI website for a more complete update at www.missionaryflights.org. We again thank you for your generous contributions made through Church of the Woods for the Haiti relief fund.
Rob and Heidi Douglas Rob is continuing his mission work in Sri Lanka and Sudan. He has formed a new mission called Ends of the Earth Ministries. So he is taking on more functions of ministry as he supervises this new organization. He writes the following: Did You Know? “We are working in an area of Sudan that is home to more than one-hundred-thousand unreached souls! Thank you for your partnership in bringing God’s love to the Ends of the Earth. Forgotten People
“The elderly African chief said to native missionary James Nyika, ‘We are the Tauso people; our name means “The Forgotten.” I never thought our children would have a chance to be educated, but since you have come, we now have hope. Our children are learning to read English and Swahili. You have brought us teachers. You have brought us dignity. You have given our children a future.’ Because of your love and support, Ends of the Earth missionaries are now living among this once-forgotten tribe. The elders value the education they bring and, through this opened door into their lives, missionaries are sharing the love of Christ among the tribe’s 500 members. “I stood among the group of children and listened to them call out answers to simple addition problems which had been drawn with a stick on the ground. Though they had no desks, paper or pencils, they had an eagerness to learn. Their classroom was the shade of an acacia tree; their “chalkboard” was the dirt floor. As I looked into each smiling face, I looked into a young soul who was learning that Jesus made and loved each one of them. In them, the future of this once unreached tribe looked bright with hope.”
The Paynes ask for prayer for the continued growth of the Semester Abroad Program and for the students who are there now, that God would mightily grab their hearts and lives and they would love Him with all they have. Please pray for Phil and Elizabeth as they lead this growing addition to their ministry. Also please pray for their daughter Amber who is getting married this coming summer. Steve and Terry Morgan in Mexico
As they head up a leadership team, they ask for prayer as they are welcoming new staff from the USA to help them. They are training leaders with the missions of Movements Everywhere by communicating the vision, training leaders and working in alliance with other groups. They are church planting and Steve is helping to host an assessment center in Puebla this month. They ask for prayer as they work in training leaders for Mexico and for leadership changes coming to the whole Latin American region. Also please pray that God will show them how to encourage and empower other staff and volunteers as well as resource and release our ministries of Leader Impact, Women Today, Family Ministries, Athletes in Action, and the Jesus Film.
The Browns, our Missionaries in Los Angeles
“Our family is quickly approaching the completion of our 19th year with World Impact, which seeks to plant churches among the unreached urban poor.I continue to oversee the mission'sat its headquarters in South Central Los Angeles. In recent months, God has brought together a good, solid team of people. Shelly home-schools Jesse (16) and Sarah (13), while Rebekah (6) attends first grade at World Impact's Los Angeles Christian School. Pray that our children will continue to grow in their relationships with God and develop a deep and sincere faith in Him.
Pray, too, for Shelly. Last June, her lower-back pain became more chronic and nerve pain developed down her leg. Since that time, her situation has worsened to where she has been, for the most part, bed-ridden for more than two months. We are to announce the opening and dedication service of our community center for teenagers in downtown Los Angeles, which was held at the end of January. Students from the neighborhood and the high school will receive spiritual, academic and social input into their lives during these formative years. We are praying that when anyone walks through the doors, they will immediately experience the love of Christ through His family and that they will benefit from tutoring, mentoring, SAT preparation, job training and classes in dance, drama and music. It will be a safe place for teenagers to enjoy positive role models and healthy relationships. We continue to be encouraged by the faithful support provided to our ministry by Church of the Woods and pray that God will continue to richly bless and keep each one of you.”
